Description

As one of the sub-species of the Whitetail, Coues deer draws hunters from near and far looking for one of the most rewarding and challenging hunts available. These challenges drive the appeal, and if you can handle challenging backcountry, harsh weather, and long glassing sessions, you can be rewarded with one of the most visually stunning deer types and a much sought-after trophy. For this hunt the outfitter will escort you the entire way. They will provide full service airport pickup/drop off in Hermosillo or a driver escort at the border in Nogales, Mex. for those who wish the drive. Between the 3 adjoining ranches they have tied up almost 80k acres of prime Sonora Coues deer habitat. With their head quarters being at Rancho San Francisco, a 150 year old 7 generation ranch. Their partners in Sonora have worked hard to develop these ranches for trophy deer. Roads have been built, springs have been developed, and a year around feeding program has been implemented to make it a prime location for deer to survive. The hunt itself is set in the beautiful Mexican Mountain Desert, with a 2:1 guide/client ratio. The Expert Sonoran, and American guides will take you where the Coues are, and will judge the animal for your opportunity.

Description

After a hearty breakfast, the day starts out with glassing at strategic high points within the region. Glassing across the Sonoran Desert takes a ton of patience, and a very keen eye. Oak covered hills and thick desert vegetation gives these critters the advantage. Good glassing techniques will help to locate the desert ghost of Sonora. After locating a trophy, the spot and stalk begins as the guide gets you into position for a good shot opportunity. Best to have the confidence in your shooting ability before the hunt, to make the shot count on these wiley, cagey, deer.
